Description

This is my contest entry for *DelanieJ's contest.

Name:Tau('Lion' in South Africa)
Species:African Lion
Age:Around 2 1/2 years old
Location:Coast of Tanzania
Personality:Sweet, Kind, Compatible, Humurous, Fun-Loving, Altruistic, Open.
Bio:He and Delanie were the best of friends ever since they were cubs. He may have not been as couragous as the other cubs, but he would always stand by Delanie in hopes of protecting her. As they matured, he starts to develop deep and fond feelings for her, although he may not have expressed it much. However, when Johnny appeared, he starts to be a little more open with her. Sometimes when Johnny comes up, he would withdraw from the couple or he would find some way to convince Delanie to spend some time with him without causing an uproar. He starts to feel a sense of rivalry with Johnny, although he prefers not to compete with him so much, because of his light build. But that still doesn't stop Tau from trying to win Delanie's heart.

This particular submission of her's inspired me to draw this char for her contest([link]). It had a story behind it, so if you read it along with my story below, you would understand why I drew it. [link]

Laying on a large boulder, Tau watched the sun as it gradually hides behind the horizon. As he fixates his thoughs, he reminisces the many times of how he and Delanie used to watch sunsets together. It would only be just the two of them and that's how he liked it. He slowly extended his paw beside him, hoping that one of her paws were there for him to touch and savor her warmth. He looked to his right, but only a sigh of sheer disappointment could make out of him for she was not there. Images of Delanie keeps occuring in his head. It was frustrating him to the extent that he contemplates hating her, but he couldn't even do that. He loved her too much; it was not in his nature.

He looked up once more to find that there are dark clouds populating over the jungle a few miles away. He could hear the thunder crying from afar. He thought of Delanie again as he starts to collect his memories. The clouds are gathering over the part of the jungle that Delanie likes to take refuge in. He lift his body into a standing position, but a concerned expression conquered his face. Suddenly, a large streak of lightning struck the earth and a loud roar of thunder compelled him to worry. "Delanie!" He shouted. He jumped off the boulder and rushed off towards the jungle.

When he finally reached the jungle, it begins to rain heavily. He desperately looked right and left as images of Delanie rushed through his memories. His thoughts settled on one perdicament: a conversation they've had before Delanie ran off into the jungle. . .

. . .Tau spotted Delanie by a river, head hung low. He couldn't help but noticed and he couldn't ignore it, so he walked towards her to see what's the matter. "Delanie?"

She looked up to acknowledge Tau, tears stained her cheeks and her ruby eyes shimmered dim. "Oh." She quickly wiped her eyes. "Hey, Tau." She tries to smile, but it failed to convince Tau that she was okay.

"What troubles you?" He asked out of concern. She didn't answer. Instead, she turned away, letting her mane shield her feelings. "It's Johnny, isn't it?" he had the courage to ask. Her eyes widened slightly, surprised that Tau figured it out, but she remained still. "Forget about him." This compelled her to turn to him again with a face of disbelief. "Whatever he has done to hurt you, I would never do to you." She just stared into his emerald eyes with mouth slightly agape. Tau hesitantly tried to get closer, but in one abrupt move, he muzzled her, ruffling their manes together. "Please. . .stay with me?" he pleaded. She was caught off guard, but as the muzzling continued, she decides to partake in it. She needed comfort and right now only Tau could offer the contentment.

When she awoken from the temporary ecstasy, she ceased to continue. Images of Johnny suffocated her memories. She pulled away from Tau's embrace and stared into his eyes. Tau was confused; he thought that everything was going fine. He wanted to stay like that forever. He begins to stand on all fours. Delanie starts to crouch and walk backwards, but as soon as Tau took one step towards her, she ran off. "Delanie!" He shouted after her departure. . .

. . .Tau shook his head to forget about what happened. His only focus was to find her and bring her home before something terrible happens. His arid mane was satisfied with its drenched condition, but it payed no advantage toward his vision for it caused obscurity. Although aware, he kept running. In the midst of all the pouring rain and the fast paced padding, he heard a snap of a twig and he stopped in his place. He heard voices in the distance and they sound oddly familiar. "Delanie. . ." he thought. His eyes peeked from behind a luciously green bush and he caught sight of her. He smiled for he was assured that the love of his life was okay, but the smile quickly faded into a slight frown when he identified his rival, Johnny, facing Delanie. Tau layed low, curious of what they were talking about.

He couldn't make out of what they were saying, but he was in utter shock when he saw Delanie muzzling under Johnny's chin. His heart dropped and his world underwent a sudden halt. His body grew weak and his stare became blank and dull. He thought his eyes were deceiving him, but they were revealing the truth. He decided to shut his eyes for he couldn't bear the heartwrenching sight anymore, and he grits his canines. His composure was beginning to break and so was his voice. Tears were flooding his closed lids and were beginning to overflow into a stream down his uptight cheeks. Before he could run off, he wanted to make sure that what he saw was an illlusion. Indeed, they kept muzzling, but he saw a smile rip through Delanies face. It was official; she was happy where she stood and there was nothing more he could do about it. He turned and raced off into the jungle, with a sentiment of remorse tainting his body. . .

Long story is long. But I hope you enjoyed it. c:
